Ecological factors and food chains
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Write six examples for the three kinds of ecological factor (two each).
Abiotic: light, moisture; biotic: predator–prey, parasite–host; anthropogenic: hunting, sowing crops.
2
Make a correct food chain from wheat, hawk, mouse and snake, mark the producer and consumers, and add the reducers at the end.
Wheat → mouse → snake → hawk → (bacteria and fungi). Producer – wheat; consumers – mouse, snake, hawk; reducers – bacteria and fungi.
3
Describe, with two examples, how one animal’s structure is adapted to its habitat.
Free answer; for example, a camel’s adaptation to the desert, a fish’s to water, a bird’s to flight.
4
Why would dead remains pile up in nature without reducers? Write 2–3 sentences.
Reducers break remains down into minerals which plants use, so the cycle of substances continues.
