Explanation
A habit is something we repeat regularly until it becomes automatic. Useful habits: morning exercise, brushing teeth, washing hands before meals, doing homework on time, putting things in their place. Harmful habits: lying, biting nails, slouching, playing on the phone until late. A new good habit does not appear at once: we must repeat it every day, at about the same time if possible, without giving in to laziness. After a few weeks it starts to happen by itself. Eco-habits help nature: sorting rubbish, airing the room, watering plants, saving water.
Worked examples
“The sports bag”. Sherzod often left his PE kit at home on sports days. He decided to make a habit of packing the next day’s bag every evening and stuck a reminder by the door. In the first days he followed the reminder. Three weeks later he packed his bag even without it.
Class activity
“Habit tree”: a tree is drawn on the board. Useful habits go on fruits (green cards), harmful ones on dry leaves (yellow), each with a reason.
