I love life!
Textbook pp. 44–46
GoalSee the difference between an optimistic and a pessimistic view and learn to look at events from the bright side.
New words
optimist · optimistpessimist · pessimisthope · umidhappy, glad · xursand
Explanation
People look at the same event in different ways. An optimist looks for the good side and a solution even in difficulty. A pessimist thinks in advance “it will not work anyway”. A person who loves life learns from mistakes, tries new things and cheers others up. Being optimistic does not mean not seeing problems; it means believing we can overcome them. It helps to ask ourselves: “What did I learn? What else can I try?”
Worked examples
“Rain”. They planned a picnic on Saturday, but it rained. Akmal was upset: “Everything is ruined.” His sister Sevara said: “Let’s build a tent at home, read books inside and drink hot tea.” They had an indoor “picnic” and the day became memorable. Akmal smiled too.
Class activity
“Change the mood”: the teacher says a pessimistic sentence (“I can’t draw”). Children turn it into an optimistic one (“I am still learning; with practice I can draw”).
