What kind of world do we want to live in?
Textbook pp. 24–25
GoalThink about a good world for the future and want to contribute to it.
New words
future · kelajakdream · orzupeace · tinchlikto contribute · hissa qo‘shish
Explanation
All children share common dreams: a peaceful sky, clean air and water, a healthy life and friendship. The world we want to live in must be built starting today. This does not need big deeds: helping parents, being kind to a classmate and protecting nature are all contributions. If we put our dreams on paper in a letter to the future, they become easier to reach.
Worked examples
“A letter to be read in twenty years”. Hasan wrote to a third-grader of the future: “Hello! In our city there are many trees and the river is clean. In the morning I ride my bike to school. I hope you live like this too. Today I planted two saplings around our school. I think you will see them.”
Class activity
“A letter to the future”: children write to a pupil twenty years from now: what they would ask and what they would tell about their own life. The most interesting letters are read aloud.
