Kinds of information
Textbook: pp. 8–9
GoalTell the kinds of information apart (sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch) and describe them in words.
New words
sound · tovushsmell · hidtaste · ta’msweet · shirin
Explanation
The kind of information depends on which sense organ receives it. Eyes: colour and shape. Ears: sound. Nose: smell. Tongue: taste. Skin: hot, cold, smooth, rough. We can describe each kind with words: sweet, noisy, soft, bright.
Worked examples
Honey is sweet, lemon is sour, salt is salty — these are taste information.
We stroked a cat’s fur: it is soft. This is touch information.
Class activity
“Which sense?”: the teacher names a thing (flower, music, ice cream, hot tea, bright sun) and children show the sense needed by touching eyes, ears, nose, tongue or hand.
