Explanation

Information goes from a source to a receiver. A receiver is the object that gets the information: a person, an animal or a device. A phone receives it as a signal, a person as sound. In a conversation both children are a source and a receiver at the same time.

Worked examples
Mother called that dinner is ready: Mother is the source, the child is the receiver.
A book is an information source, and the pupil reading it is the receiver.
Class activity

“Broken telephone”: 6–7 children stand in a line. The first whispers a sentence in the next child’s ear, and each passes it on. The last says it aloud. Discuss who was a source and who a receiver.
