The computer mouse
Textbook: pp. 82–83
GoalKnow the parts of a mouse and the actions we do with it (click, double-click, drag).
New words
mouse · sichqonchacursor · kursorbutton · tugmawheel · g‘ildirak
Explanation
A mouse is used to steer the cursor and choose objects. It has a left button, a right button and a wheel in the middle. Three main actions: press the left button once, quickly; press it twice, quickly; hold the button down and drag an object. We hold the mouse lightly with the palm, the index finger rests on the left button. It is called a “mouse” because its cord looks like a mouse’s tail.
Worked examples
To choose a picture we click it once; to start a program we double-click its icon.
To move a folder to another place on the desktop we hold it and drag.
Class activity
“Paper mouse”: put a big paper mouse and 3 cards (“once”, “twice”, “drag”) on the desk. The teacher names a task (for example, “start a program”) and the child shows the right card.
