Explanation
In splatter art we put objects on the paper and splatter paint over them. When we lift them, their shapes stay clean. Splattering several colours one after another makes them mix beautifully. Blue splattered over yellow makes some spots look green.
Worked examples
A page with three leaves on it + yellow, then red splatter = an autumn mat with orange spots.
Class activity
Steps: 1) Cover the desk with newspaper and wear an apron or old shirt. 2) Put 2–3 leaves or paper flowers on the page. 3) With a toothbrush, splatter a light colour first, then a darker one. 4) When dry, lift the leaves and see the clean shapes. Rule: take only a little runny paint and hold the brush over the paper only.
