Falling leaves. Printing with stamps
Textbook pp. 10–11
GoalUse real leaves as stamps to make a picture of falling leaves.
New words
stamp · shtampprint, mark · izgouache paint · guashto fall (leaves) · to‘kilmoq
Explanation
A stamp is something we put paint on and press onto paper. We spread gouache on the back of a leaf, the side where the veins stick out. We press it on the paper and lift it carefully, leaving a print with veins. Prints of different colours look like falling leaves.
Worked examples
One plane-tree leaf printed in yellow, red and orange looks like leaves flying in the air.
Class activity
Steps: 1) Cover the desk with newspaper. 2) Brush gouache on the veined side of a leaf. 3) Lay it on the paper, put a napkin on top and press with your palm. 4) Lift it by the stalk. Repeat with other colours, and print leaves lying on the ground at the bottom too. Rule: wash the brush after each colour.
