Explanation
A rainbow appears when the sun comes out after rain. It has 7 colours: red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, blue, violet. Red, yellow and blue are primary colours. Mixing them gives other colours: red + yellow = orange, yellow + blue = green, red + blue = purple.
Worked examples
We mixed yellow and blue on the palette and got green.
Class activity
Steps: 1) Starting from a bottom corner, draw a big arc in pencil. 2) Draw 6 more arcs under it. 3) Paint in order from the top arc: red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, blue, violet. 4) Mix orange, green and violet yourself on the palette. Game: “Colour wizard”: say two colours, children guess the colour they make.
