Textbook Part 1, pp. 49–50
GoalUnderstand why a book is called a “sage”; tell events in the right order.
New words
sage, wise person · donishmandpowerful · qudratlilegend · rivoyatanswer · javob
Explanation

A donishmand (sage) is a wise person who knows a lot. A book also helps us find answers to every question, so we call it “a great sage”. The textbook has a legend about a king and a sage, which says the most powerful thing is knowledge.

Worked examples
“The strongest thing”. The teacher asked: “What is the strongest thing in the world?” The children said: “An elephant!”, “A lion!”, “A car!” The teacher held up a book. “The strongest thing is knowledge, and books give us knowledge,” she said. That day the children called the book a “sage”.
Main idea: knowledge is the greatest power, and a book is its source.
Class activity

“Question — book”: children ask a question (What does an elephant eat?), and the teacher finds the answer in a children’s encyclopedia and reads it.

Practice

2

3

4
