Explanation

Tashkent is the capital of our homeland. Registan Square in Samarkand is surrounded by three madrasas. Bukhara and Khiva have many ancient buildings. Place names always start with a capital letter.

Worked examples
“A trip around my country”. In summer we travelled with our family. First we saw our capital, Tashkent. Then we went to Samarkand and looked at Registan Square. The ancient buildings in Bukhara and Khiva amazed us. I am proud of my country.
Registan Square has three madrasas: Ulugh Beg, Sher-Dor and Tilla-Kari.
Class activity

Map game: the teacher shows a map of Uzbekistan; children find Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and their own town.
