Explanation

Long ago pigeons carried letters, and urgent news was taken by messengers on horseback (choparlar). Later letters were put in envelopes and sent by post. Then the telegraph and the telephone were invented. Now we send messages anywhere in the world by mobile phone.

Worked examples
“A letter to Grandma”. My grandma lives in a faraway village. Long ago people sent letters by pigeon or by messenger on horseback. I wrote Grandma a letter and put it in an envelope. Then I took the letter to the post office. A week later Grandma phoned me and said thank you.
Ways of sending messages: pigeon → horseback messenger → post → telegraph → telephone.
Class activity
