What is in the night sky? (2)
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Stand at a window. Find something far away and something near. Which looks bigger? Is it really bigger?
The near thing looks bigger. The far thing looks small only because it is far away.
2
With a grown-up, shine a torch on a paper from three distances. Which is the brightest?
The closest one.
3
Invent a name for a constellation. Tell its story with a beginning, a middle and an end.
Any story with three parts is fine.
4
Ask a grown-up: “Have you ever looked through a telescope or binoculars? What did you see?”
The child listens and tells the answer.
5
Write or say three facts you learned about the night sky.
For example: the Sun is a star; far things look small; a telescope helps us see faint things.
