Tushuntirish
Dasturxon yozilganda: plate (likopcha) markazda (in the centre), fork (sanchqi) chap tomonda (on the left), knife (pichoq) va spoon (qoshiq) o‘ng tomonda (on the right), glass (stakan) tepada o‘ng tomonda, napkin (salfetka) likopcha yonida yoki ostida. Gap: «You should put the plate in the centre.» «The forks are on the left and the knife is on the right.» Bu qoida Britaniya odatiga ko‘ra; o‘zbek dasturxonida non, choynak va piyolalar o‘rtaga qo‘yiladi. Qisqa ertak (Tulki va Laylak): ikkalasi bir-birini mehmonga chaqiradi, lekin tulki likopchada, laylak esa baland ko‘zada ovqat beradi, shuning uchun har kim ovqatni yeya olmaydi. Xulosa: mehmonga mos idish tanlash kerak.
Namunalar
«The fox and the stork». One day a fox invited a stork to dinner. The fox put some soup on a flat plate. The stork couldn’t eat it with her long beak, and she went home hungry. The next day the stork invited the fox. She served soup in a tall jar. Now the fox couldn’t eat! A good host should think about the guest. (Mazmuni: tulki va laylak haqida qisqa ertak.)
The plate is in the centre. The fork is on the left. The knife and the spoon are on the right.
Sinfda faoliyat
«Dasturxon poygasi»: guruhlar stol ustiga likopcha, sanchqi, pichoq, qoshiq va stakanni to‘g‘ri joylashtiradi. Ingliz tilida «The fork is on the left» deb tushuntiradi.
