Communicating our culture (1)
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Ask a grown-up what celebrations your family enjoys. Draw one and write a sentence about what people do.
The child names a real family celebration and draws what people do, eat or wear.
2
Interview a grown-up about a family tradition. Find out what the family does, who joins in, where the idea began and how they learned it.
The child writes or draws four answers, one for each question.
3
Draw something special about your city or village, such as a market, a river or a building. Write one sentence under it.
Any real place or thing from the child’s own area is fine.
4
Find Siwa, Aswan, Sinai or Alexandria on a map or globe with a grown-up. Tell one thing about the place.
For example: Siwa has palm trees and dates, Alexandria is beside the sea.
5
Talk to a friend or neighbour who celebrates something differently from you. Ask one question and listen to the answer. Say good wishes.
The child asks politely, listens and is respectful.
