New words
constellation · a group of stars joined in our minds to make a shapetelescope · a tool that helps us see far away, faint thingshabitat · the natural home of plants and animalssteward · a person who looks after something and keeps it safe
Explanation

The Sun is a star. It is the nearest star to us, so it looks big, bright and warm. Other stars look like tiny dots because they are very far away. A constellation is a group of stars that makes a shape. A telescope helps us see things that are far away and faint. Never look straight at the Sun. A habitat is the natural home of plants and animals. It gives them food, water, air and shelter. People change habitats, and some changes help while others harm. A steward looks after nature.

Worked examples
A donkey stands close to us and looks big. The same size donkey far away in the field looks small. Far things look smaller. Stars look tiny because they are far away.

Each animal lives where it finds what it needs: fish and geese in the Nile, camels and foxes in the desert, dolphins and turtles in the sea.
save waterplant a tree
Stewards take care of nature. They turn off the tap and they plant trees.
Class activity

Sky and habitat review. With a grown-up, draw the night sky with a constellation that you invent. Then draw a habitat near your home and the animals that live there. Last, choose one steward job you will keep doing, such as saving water or putting litter in the bin. Show your pictures to your family and tell them what you remember.
