Information carriers

Explanation

An object where information is kept is called an information carrier. Long ago people wrote on clay tablets, wax boards and animal skin. Books and notebooks are paper carriers. A flash drive, a phone and a CD are electronic carriers. An electronic carrier can hold a lot of information.

Worked examples
A photo album is a paper carrier. Photos in a phone are kept on an electronic carrier.
Writing made on a clay tablet with a stick has survived for thousands of years.
Class activity

“Sorting carriers”: children sort cards (book, flash drive, notebook, phone, newspaper, CD) into two groups: paper and electronic.
