Explanation
In autumn farmers gather the harvest from fields and orchards: cotton, grapes, pomegranates, melons and vegetables. A harvest is the result of hard work. In the picture we draw the basket first, then place the fruit and vegetables touching each other above it.
Worked examples
A brown basket with a red pomegranate, a bunch of green grapes and a yellow melon.
Class activity
Steps: 1) Draw a wide basket at the bottom of the page with criss-cross lines. 2) Draw 3–4 fruits or vegetables above it, touching each other. 3) Paint each in its own colour. 4) Add the sun and a tree in the background. Game: “Farmers’ market”: children name the fruit in their pictures and say where it grows.
