Explanation
A home has a kitchen, bedroom, living room and bathroom. Each room has furniture: table, chair, bed, wardrobe. Household appliances help with housework: the fridge keeps food cold, the iron smooths clothes, the vacuum cleaner sucks up dust, the washing machine washes clothes. Most of them work on electricity.
Worked examples
In the kitchen there is a fridge and a gas cooker.
Long ago clothes were washed by hand; now a washing machine does it.
Class activity
“Which room?” game: the teacher names an item (bed, teapot, soap, TV) and children show which room it belongs in. Then make a little “house” from a cardboard box and label the rooms.
