Explanation
Animals are alive too: they breathe, eat and grow. Insects have 6 legs. Birds have feathers and wings. Fish live in water and have scales and fins. Mammals have fur and feed their babies milk.
Worked examples
Farm and pet animals: cow, sheep, goat, cat. Wild animals: wolf, fox, hare.
Butterfly, ant and bee are insects; dove and sparrow are birds.
Class activity
Sort animal pictures into four boxes: Insects, Fish, Birds, Mammals. In the yard, children can look at an ant with a magnifier and count its legs.
