Explanation

Around us live tiny creatures we cannot see — germs. They can make us ill. So we wash our hands with soap before eating, after the toilet, after coming in from outside and after touching animals. We brush our teeth twice a day — morning and evening. A toothbrush, towel and comb belong to one person only.

Worked examples
I lather my hands with soap, rub for 20 seconds, then rinse.
I washed my hands after stroking the cat.
Class activity

Experiment: pour water on a plate and sprinkle black pepper on it — these are the “germs”. Touch the water with a clean finger — the pepper stays. Now put soap on the finger and touch again — the pepper rushes away! Soap gets rid of germs in a similar way. Then wash hands while singing “Happy Birthday” twice (20 seconds).

Practice
1

2
