Shuhrat
The poet Shuhrat’s real name was G‘ulom Aminjon o‘g‘li Alimov, and he was born in Tashkent on 19 April 1918. His first poem was printed in 1935 when he was seventeen; though a transport engineer by profession, his love for literature was strong. He took part in the war and was wounded in 1943. In 1951 he was jailed on a false charge and was cleared in 1955. He wrote the novels “Shinelli yillar”, “Oltin zanglamas” and “Jannat qidirganlar” and ballads such as “Mardlik afsonasi”, “Jamila” and “Raymonda”; he died in 1993.
