The Constitution and constitutional law
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Write the adoption dates (1992 and 2023) in your notebook and add one sentence of explanation for each.
8 December 1992 – the first Constitution was adopted; 30 April 2023 – the new edition was adopted by referendum.
2
Choose three branches of law and write which relations each regulates.
For example: labour law – employer and employee; family law – spouses, parents and children; civil law – property and contracts.
3
Draw a pyramid of acts: the Constitution, a law, a presidential decree, a Cabinet resolution, a local body’s decision.
The Constitution at the top, then a law, a decree, a Cabinet resolution, and at the bottom a local body’s decision.
4
Why must a lower act not contradict a higher one? Write two or three sentences.
Otherwise the legal system would not be unified and people would not know which rule to follow; the primacy of the higher act ensures legal stability.
5
Ask a family member “Why do we need a Constitution?” and write down the answer.
Answers will vary; for example, to protect rights and to limit state power.
