Explanation

Let us recall: information processes are receiving, storing, processing and passing on. A code is a set of signs for writing information. Encoding means writing with a code, decoding means solving it. We keep personal information private, tell no one our password and do not open unknown links.

Worked examples
Table: 1 = A, 2 = B, 3 = D. The code 2, 1, 3 stands for the letters B, A, D.
Order of steps: I saw, I remembered, I concluded. This is receiving and processing.
Class activity

“Secret message”: each team gives another team one word encoded in numbers. The first team to decode it scores a point. Then each team states one safety rule.

Practice
1
Table: A = 1, B = 2, D = 3, E = 4. Decode: 4, 3, 1.
2
Find the odd one out: name, password, drawing a picture, address. (About personal information)
3
Put the four processes in the usual order: passing on, receiving, storing, processing.
