Passing on information
Textbook: pp. 30–32
GoalKnow the difference between passing on and exchanging information; name devices that pass information on.
New words
exchange · almashinuvletter · xatconversation · suhbatvideo call · videoaloqa
Explanation
When we read a book, information goes one way: from the book to the reader. In a conversation there is a two-way exchange: we both speak and listen. Information can be passed on by writing a letter, sending an electronic message or making a phone call. A phone and a computer are devices for passing information on.
Worked examples
Hearing the news on the radio is one-way passing on. A video call with Grandma is an exchange.
Calling a friend to invite them home is fast, and writing a message is handy when they are busy.
Class activity
“One-way or two-way?”: the teacher names examples (watching a cartoon, talking to a friend, reading a newspaper, swapping letters). Children raise one hand (one-way) or two hands (two-way).
