Explanation
The system unit is the main part of a computer. Inside it are parts that receive, process, store and pass information to the monitor or printer. In a laptop and a tablet the system unit is not separate; it is inside. Rules: we do not repair the system unit, hit it, wash it, touch it with wet hands, pour water on it or eat in front of it.
Worked examples
The computer’s “brain” is in the system unit: it processes information.
A system unit must not be washed: water gets inside and breaks it.
Class activity
“Is this the right rule?”: the teacher describes a situation (“He pressed the button with wet hands”). Children show thumb up (right) or down (wrong) and state the right rule.
