Latitudinal zonality and sectoriality of the geographic envelope
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Name 3 azonal natural or human-made features near where you live and explain their causes.
For example: a tugai by a canal (moisture), an irrigated field (people), a saline flat (relief and salts). Answers depend on the place.
2
Compare latitudinal zonality and sectoriality in a table (cause, direction, example).
Latitudinal zonality: ray angle, equator to poles, e.g. tropical forest to tundra; sectoriality: distance from ocean, west to east, e.g. forest to steppe.
3
Why does nature along rivers differ from the surrounding desert? Write 3–4 sentences.
Along rivers the groundwater is shallow and the microclimate is cooler and wetter, so vegetation is dense, the soil is different and animal life is varied.
4
Compare the world map of natural zones with the population density map: in which zones is the population dense? Name two.
For example, temperate broadleaf and mixed forests and monsoon forests, owing to favourable climate and fertile land.
