The internal structure of the Earth and tectonic processes
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Make a table of Earth's shells (crust, mantle, core): depth or thickness, state, main feature.
Crust – 5–40 km thick, solid; mantle – to about 2900 km, hot, partly viscous; core – outer part liquid, inner part solid, very hot.
2
On an outline world map shade the Pacific “Ring of Fire” and the Alpine–Himalayan belt.
The ring runs along the Pacific coasts (Chile, Japan, Kamchatka, Alaska); the Alpine–Himalayan belt runs from the Mediterranean through the Alps, Caucasus, Iran, Pamir and Himalaya to Southeast Asia.
3
A plate moves 8 cm a year. How many km in 500 000 years? (Number only; 100 000 cm = 1 km.)

With an adult, list 5 things that should be in a family's emergency bag for an earthquake.
Drinking water, long-life food, a first-aid kit, a torch with spare batteries, copies of documents (also a phone charger, warm clothes).
5
Why are earthquakes and volcanoes not spread evenly in the world? Write 3–4 sentences.
Because they cluster at plate boundaries where plates collide or separate and stress and cracks build up in the crust, while plate interiors are relatively stable.
