Colourful tulips
Textbook pp. 58–59
GoalMake tulips by folding and cutting coloured paper.
New words
tulip · lolastem · poyaleaf · bargbunch, bouquet · dasta
Explanation
The tulip is a flower that blooms in spring in the fields and mountains of Uzbekistan. If we fold a square into a triangle and fold two corners up, we get a tulip head. We cut the stem and leaves from green paper. Tulips of different colours make a bouquet.
Worked examples
Red, yellow and pink tulip heads + green stems = a colourful bouquet.
Class activity
Steps: 1) Fold a coloured square corner to corner, with the point facing down. 2) Fold the two side corners up, a little apart; the tulip head is ready. 3) Cut a thin stem and two long leaves from green paper. 4) Glue 3 tulips of different colours on card as a bouquet. Safety: never walk around with scissors; keep them on the desk.
