Explanation
Appliqué is a picture made by gluing cut paper pieces onto card. An aquarium has water, fish, water plants and stones. First we glue the background (blue water), then put the fish and plants on top.
Worked examples
A blue rectangle of water + 3 oval fish + wavy green water plants + small grey circles as stones.
Class activity
Steps: 1) Glue a big blue rectangle (the water) onto card. 2) Cut long wavy green strips and glue them from the bottom up. 3) Cut oval fish and triangle tails from coloured paper. 4) Place the fish in the water and glue them; add stones at the bottom. Safety: open the scissors only while cutting, and point the tip away from yourself and your friends.
