Textbook pp. 44–45
GoalFold paper to make a little boat that can float.
New words
ship, boat · kemasail · yelkanto fold · buklamoqriver · daryo
Explanation

A boat is folded from a rectangle of paper. First we fold the paper in half, then fold the corners down to make a triangle. We fold the bottom edges up, open it out, and a boat appears. We press every fold well with a finger.

Worked examples
A notebook page → fold in half → triangle → boat; we test it in a bowl of water.
Class activity

Steps: 1) Fold a rectangle of paper in half from top to bottom. 2) Fold the two top corners down towards the middle line. 3) Fold the bottom edges up on both sides. 4) Open it from the middle and press the ends together; the boat is ready. Float it in a bowl. Safety: keep the desk dry when using water and wipe up spills at once.
