Explanation

Insects have six legs and two feelers. A ladybird is red with black dots. A bee has yellow and black stripes and clear wings. We roll the body from play-dough and cut the wings from paper.

Worked examples
A red play-dough half-ball + black dots + a small black head = a ladybird.
Class activity

Steps: 1) Roll a red play-dough ball and press it in your palm to make a half-ball. 2) Make a small black head and dots and stick them on. 3) For a bee, wrap thin black strips around a yellow body. 4) Cut two wings from white paper and press them into the bee; add feelers from thread or a used match. Safety: never put play-dough in your mouth, and wash your hands after work.
