Little fish
Textbook pp. 34–35
GoalMake a little fish by folding paper.
New words
fish · baliqfin · suzgichtail · dumscale · tangacha
Explanation
Folding a square of paper corner to corner makes a triangle. A triangle becomes the fish’s body, small triangles become the tail and fins. We draw scales with a felt-tip pen as little arcs.
Worked examples
Square → triangle → fish body; the eye is a black dot.
Class activity
Steps: 1) Fold a coloured square corner to corner. 2) Glue the triangle on card with its tip pointing sideways. 3) Cut a small triangle for the tail and add it at the back. 4) Draw an eye and scales. Safety: smooth the fold with your finger, not with the scissors.
