A caterpillar
Textbook pp. 10–11
GoalMake a caterpillar from coloured paper circles.
New words
caterpillar · kapalak qurtismall circle · doirachagluing · yelimlash
Explanation
A caterpillar later turns into a butterfly. We make it from equal circles, gluing them in a row so each one slightly overlaps the next. The first circle is the head.
Worked examples
Green circles for the body, a red circle for the head, two lines for feelers.
Class activity
Steps: 1) Trace a bottle cap 6–7 times on coloured paper. 2) Cut out the circles. 3) Glue them in a row on white card, each overlapping the next. 4) Draw eyes, a mouth and feelers. Safety: cut slowly along the line and keep fingers away from the blades.
