Talk time. The sound u

Student’s Book p. 97
GoalHave a short talk about an animal; pronounce the sound u (as in umbrella).
New words
umbrella · soyabonduck · o‘rdaksun · quyoshup · yuqoriga
Explanation

When we see an animal we talk: “Look! A duck!” — “It’s small.” — “Be kind to it.” The English short u (umbrella, up, duck, sun) sounds a little like Uzbek a, short and with the mouth only slightly open.

Worked examples
— Look! A bird! — It’s small. Shh! Don’t scare it.
Tongue twister: “A duck under an umbrella jumps up in the sun.”
Class activity

“Umbrella jump”: the teacher says words (duck, dog, sun, cat, up). When children hear the sound u, they make an umbrella over their heads with their hands and jump.
