Explanation

Animals: bird, crocodile, elephant, giraffe, hippo, lion, monkey, snake, spider, zebra. We describe them: “Elephants are big.” “Spiders are small.”

Worked examples
Hippos are big. Birds are small.
Mini chant: “Lion, zebra, monkey, too — come and see them at the zoo!”
Class activity

“At the zoo”: the teacher names an animal and children act it out: for a big animal they stretch their arms wide, for a small one they crouch down, saying “Big!” or “Small!”
