Explanation

Some foods come from plants: apples, bananas and oranges grow on trees, bread is made from wheat. Some come from animals: milk and cheese from cows, eggs and chicken from hens. Question: “Where is milk from?” Answer: “It’s from an animal. It’s from a cow.”

Worked examples
An apple — plant. An egg — animal.
— Where is cheese from? — It’s from a cow. Animal!
Class activity

“Two baskets”: one has a tree picture (plant), one has a cow picture (animal). Children sort food pictures into the right basket, saying “Plant!” or “Animal!”
