New words
project · a bigger task that a group plans and finishes togetherrole · the job one person has in a groupchecklist · a list of jobs you tick off when they are donepresentation · a short talk with slides or drawings
Explanation
Your term project is called ‘Share a discovery’. In a group, you research one important Egyptian discovery from the past. Your teacher gives a list to choose from. Plan it on a planning page. First, give each person a role: leader, researcher, note-taker, designer and speaker. Name the adults you can ask for help. Choose your sources: a book, the school library, and a teacher-approved online library, searched with an adult. Make a tidy folder plan, take notes in your own words, write a list of sources in alphabetical order, and prepare a short presentation. Draw your own pictures instead of copying photos. Check your work against the checklist before you present.

Worked examples
Group Seif, Salma, Karim, Hana and Omar pick a discovery from the teacher’s list. They write five roles on cards and everybody chooses one. Salma is the researcher and Karim the speaker. Everyone knows the job.
The note-taker’s folder plan: Project > Notes, Pictures, Sources, Slides. The list of sources goes in Sources in alphabetical order. The folders are ready before any file is saved.
Presentation outline: slide 1 title and group; slide 2 what was found; slide 3 how and when; slide 4 why it matters; slide 5 the list of sources. The speaker practises with a timer: three minutes in total.
Class activity
Planning page. As a group, make a planning page on paper: the discovery (from the teacher’s list), five roles, two adults who can help, three approved sources, your folder plan, and your five-slide outline. Use this checklist: own words, quotation marks for exact words, credit given, my own drawings, list of sources A to Z, safe searching with an adult. Tick each item.
