An email about an unusual animal
An email to a friend has parts. First write Hi or Dear and your friend’s name. Then say why you are writing: I’m writing to tell you about … . Then give your ideas: how the animal looks, its home and its food. Ask your friend a question. At the end write See you soon, Write back soon or All the best, and then your name. With a friend we can use short words like I’m and awesome. Use first names only. Never write your address or phone number in an email.
Hi Omar,
I’m writing to tell you about my favourite unusual animal. It is the fennec fox, and it lives in the Sahara desert. It is very small, but its ears are very big. The big ears help it stay cool and hear insects. In the day it sleeps in a hole in the sand, and at night it looks for food. It eats insects and small plants. What is your favourite unusual animal? Write back soon!
All the best,
Salma

Email in three steps. Step 1: choose an animal and make notes in a table (looks, home, food). Step 2: write six to eight sentences with Hi, I’m writing to tell you, a question and See you soon. Step 3: the grown-up reads it and says one thing they like. Do not write an address.
