Animals at the wildlife park
At a wildlife park we can see many animals. A kangaroo jumps, and a baby kangaroo can sit in its mother’s pouch. A panda lives in China and eats bamboo. A bat sleeps upside down in the day, and it is a mammal, not a bird. A lion is a big cat. A penguin is a bird. It swims well, but it cannot fly. A dolphin and a whale are mammals that live in the sea. A parrot is a colourful bird. A snail has a shell. Read the table.
| Animal | Group | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| kangaroo | mammal | Australia |
| panda | mammal | China |
| lion | mammal | Africa |
| penguin | bird | cold places in the south |
| parrot | bird | warm forests |
| dolphin | mammal | the sea |
| snail | small animal | gardens |
Look at the penguins! Can they fly?
No, they can’t. But they can swim very fast.
Which animal do you like best?
I like the kangaroos. The babies sit in a pouch.
Last Friday, Mona’s class visited a wildlife park. They saw a lion, a panda and some colourful parrots. The parrots were noisy and beautiful. In a cold room there were penguins. The children watched them swim. The teacher told them that a bat is a mammal and a whale is a mammal, too. Everyone had a wonderful day.
Animal clues. The child chooses a secret animal from the lesson and gives clues: I live in the sea. I am a mammal. I am very big. The grown-up guesses: A whale! Then change places. Play with five animals.
