A blog about an unusual home
A blog is a text that we write for readers. These tips make a good blog. Speak to the reader: Have you got a pet? Use contractions: it’s, I’m, don’t. Use an exclamation mark for strong feelings: It’s awesome! Give your opinion: I think it’s great because … . Check your spelling at the end. Read the table and then the model blog about a houseboat on the Nile.
| Tip | Example |
|---|---|
| speak to the reader | Would you like to live on a boat? |
| use contractions | it’s, I’m, don’t |
| use ! | It’s awesome! |
| give an opinion | I think it’s great because … |
Hi everyone! This week I’m writing about a houseboat on the Nile. It’s an unusual home because it floats! My cousin Hassan lives there with his family. It’s small, but it’s very cosy. From the window you can see the water and the birds. I think it’s awesome because it’s always cool near the river. Would you like to live on a boat? Tell me in a comment!
Look. I wrote: It is awesome! Is it good?
Yes, but use a contraction: It’s awesome!
Good idea. I must also check my spelling.
And ask the reader a question at the end!
Blog writers. The child writes a blog of six to eight sentences about an unusual home that the child invents, for example a tree house or a tent in the desert. Use contractions, an exclamation mark, an opinion and a question for the reader. The grown-up reads it and says one thing they like.
