Eight biscuits in two equal groups: half of eight is four. A quarter means one of four equal parts. Eight biscuits in four equal groups: a quarter of eight is two.

Animals live in different places. A camel lives in the desert, where it is hot and dry. A crocodile lives in the Nile. Fish live in the sea. A polar bear lives where it is very cold. Every animal needs its habitat.
Habitat poster. Fold a big paper into four equal parts. In each part draw a habitat: desert, river, sea and farm. Draw one animal in each part. Say: A quarter of my poster is the desert. Then cut the poster in half and count the animals in each half.
