Said Ahmad was born on 10 June 1920 in Tashkent and died on 5 December 2007. At about 16 he wrote his first humorous story, “Ishqiboz”. In the early 1950s he was imprisoned and then released. His works: “Tortiq” (1940), the “Ufq” trilogy, “Jimjitlik” (1988), the plays “Kelinlar qo‘zg‘oloni” and “Kuyov”, and “Xandon pista” (1994). Said Ahmad was awarded the title Hero of Uzbekistan. His works stand out for humour, satire and keen observation of life.
