Using the subject (ega) in a sentence
The subject (ega) is a main part of the sentence: it is linked to the predicate and shows who or what does the action. It answers Kim? Nima? Qayer? (Who? What? Which place?). A place name can also be the subject: Samarqand chiroyli. (Samarkand is beautiful.) Qayer chiroyli? — Samarqand. The subject can be a person: Zebo, o‘qituvchi (teacher), men (I). It can also be a thing or natural phenomenon: quyosh (sun), yomg‘ir (rain), kitob (book). We ask the question together with the predicate: Nima isitdi? (What warmed?) — quyosh.
“Who or what?”: the teacher reads a sentence but skips the subject. Children listen to the predicate, ask “Kim?” or “Nima?” and find the subject.
