My, your, his, her
Russian A1 · Unit 7
GoalSay “my”, “your”, “his” and “her” with family words.
New words
мой (moy) · my (with брат)моя́ (moyá) · my (with сестра́)мои́ (moí) · my (with plurals)твой (tvoy) · your (with брат)твоя́ (tvoyá) · your (with сестра́)твои́ (tvoí) · your (with plurals)его́ (yevó) · hisеё (yeyó) · her
Explanation
In Russian “my” changes with the word it goes with. Use мой with a man’s word (мой брат), моя́ with a woman’s word (моя́ сестра́) and мои́ with a plural (мои́ роди́тели). Твой, твоя́ and твои́ work in the same way for “your” (to a friend). Его́ (his) and её (her) never change, whatever follows. Note that г in его́ is said like “v”: yevó. For a stranger or for several people use ваш, ва́ша, ва́ши.
| Masculine | Feminine | Plural | |
|---|---|---|---|
| my | мой брат | моя́ сестра́ | мои́ роди́тели |
| your | твой брат | твоя́ сестра́ | твои́ роди́тели |
| his | его́ брат | его́ сестра́ | его́ роди́тели |
| her | её брат | её сестра́ | её роди́тели |
