Explanation

This lesson uses all of unit 6. Names of family members take the endings ـِي، ـَك، ـِك، ـُه، ـهَا. A feminine word ending in ة changes the ة to ت before an ending: عَيْلَة becomes عَيْلْتِي (ʿēlti), and the a before it drops. Use the man or woman form of «your» for the person you talk to. Add the name and the age with اِسْمُه / اِسْمَهَا and سِنُّه / سِنَّهَا. Try to say each sentence out loud before you read the answer.

Class activity

Tell a friend about your family in six sentences. Include the father, the mother, a brother or sister, a name and an age. Then record yourself or say it to a mirror, and check every ending: my, his or her.
