Numbers 6 to 10

Egyptian Arabic A1 · Unit 5
GoalSay and read the numbers 6 to 10.
New words
سِتَّة (sitta) · six, 6سَبْعَة (sabʿa) · seven, 7تَمَانْيَة (tamanya) · eight, 8تِسْعَة (tisʿa) · nine, 9عَشَرَة (ʿashara) · ten, 10
Explanation

Now the numbers 6 to 10: ٦ ٧ ٨ ٩ and ١٠. Ten is written with two digits, one and zero, like our 10. Watch the shapes: ٧ looks like a V, and ٨ looks like an upside-down V. The numbers 7 and 9 have the throat sound ع (ʿ): sabʿa, tisʿa. The words sitta (6) and tisʿa (9) sound close, so listen carefully. Egyptians say the last vowel of each number: sitta, not sitt.
