Explanation

To say a job, use the pronoun and the job: أَنَا مُهَنْدِس. There is no word for «is» or «a». A woman uses the feminine form with -ة: هِيَّ دُكْتُورَة. Ask «what is your job?» with بِتِشْتَغَل إِيه؟ to a man and بِتِشْتَغَلِي إِيه؟ to a woman. Say where you work with فِي (in): بَشْتَغَل فِي مُسْتَشْفَى. In the past, اِشْتَغَلْت means «I worked».

Class activity

Write the jobs of five people you know, for example بَابَا مُهَنْدِس. Use the feminine form for women. Then write where each one works with فِي, and ask a friend: إِنْتَ بِتِشْتَغَل فِين؟
