Explanation

A dialogue is a short talk between two people. Read each line from right to left, then listen and say it aloud. Find the question first, then the answer; the answer often repeats a word from the question. Small words make the talk smooth. ูˆูŽ (wa, โ€œandโ€) is written joined to the next word, as in ูˆูŽุฌูŽู…ููŠู„ (wa jamฤซl, โ€œand beautifulโ€). ู„ูŽูƒูู† (lฤkin, with a long ฤ that is not written, like ู‡ูŽุฐูŽุง) is โ€œbutโ€ and ุฃูŽูŠู’ุถู‹ุง (สพayแธan) is โ€œalsoโ€. Use ุฌูŽูŠูู‘ุฏ (good) and ู…ูู…ู’ุชูŽุงุฒ (excellent) to react; ุนูŽู„ูŽู‰ (สฟalฤ) means โ€œonโ€.

Talk 3, at home: looking for a book.
Class activity

Act it out. With a friend, or alone with two voices, act out the three talks. Then change the words: use another noun (for example ุงู„ู’ู…ููู’ุชูŽุงุญ or ุงู„ุฏูŽู‘ูู’ุชูŽุฑ), another colour and another place. Write your new talk of four lines on paper with all the vowels. Read it aloud and check the gender of every adjective.

Practice
1
Press Listen. Which question word do you hear: ู…ูŽู†, ู…ูŽุง or ุฃูŽูŠู’ู†?
2
In talk 2, where is the pen?
3
In talk 3, Hind asks if the book is new. What does Fadi answer? Say it in Arabic.
4
The picture shows a girl. Say in Arabic: โ€œshe is a new studentโ€.
5
The picture shows a key. Write a talk of two lines: a question with ุฃูŽูŠู’ู† and an answer with ู‡ูู†ูŽุงูƒูŽ.
